Over the weekend we took a little family field trip out to Butler's Orchard. It's about an hours drive one way and worth every minute! The farm is a true blue family owned and operated property ... and you know we Carrs appreciate supporting local business'! Every weekend during October they host their annual {33rd this year} Pumpkin Festival. They've got hayrides, a corn maze, tons of various games and activities, barnyard animals, playgrounds, and of course yummy food and music! And apparently it's the place to be because all of Maryland seemed to be there. The first thing the kiddos saw were the giant slides high on the hill so we made a beeline up there.
Then it was a quick climb over the spider web ...
and on to the corn maze!
{a little random note: the other weekend Kayla decided her bangs needed a trim! She took quite the chunk out right in the middle! So for the next several months you might notice her hair to be a bit ..... different.}

Pedal tractor races!
Hayride to the pumpkin patch. We're no strangers to hayrides ... but this was the first time we got to actually sit in a huge loose pile of soft hay! Usually, we just sit on packed blocks of hey ... this was much more fun!!
This was the best selection of pumpkins we've ever seen. Most all were huge AND in great shape!
On the ride back we asked the family across from us to snap a quick photo .... she didn't know how to zoom out .... well, it's better than nothing I guess :)
Such a great place! We will definitely be a regular here!

Michelle Harbaugh: Did you make it through the corn maze?? We couldn't find our way out! We ended up just giving up and going back out the entrance, lol!!
Julie Carr: hahaha! Yes, we made it
Michelle Harbaugh: This weekend (26th and 27th) will be Fall Festival family days at Mt. Vernon, you should REALLY try to make it- it's the BEST time of year to go! They will have all kinds of stuff they don't normally have- and it's always gorgeous in the fall We'll be there Saturday!
Julie Carr: i know!! I'm sooooo bummed! The marathon is this Sunday and Saturday is a complete down day for Garrett and I don't want to go without him We're going to have to wait until next year.
Michelle Harbaugh: There is also "homeschool day" there on Nov. 1st and 2nd.... It's similar... You don't have to homeschool to go
Nichole Vensko: Butlers was a favorite of ours too. Summer's farm out toward Frederick was a great Fall spot as well. They have piglet racing, corn mazes, animals, live music, and the most amazing fresh donuts ever!
Nichole Vensko: Mt Vernon has a candlelight tour during the holidays which was really fun. Kayla would love it! Everyone in costume, dancing, etc. you feel like you went back in time. Check out their site for details.
Michelle Harbaugh: We've done that one too! You only get to see the 3rd floor of the mansion during the holidays
Karen Phillips Rakestraw: I think Camp Grammy needs to go when I'm there!
Molly Schloesser: Love it! Nice hair too
