On the way into Tucson we learned our first valuable lesson: never take a baby out of the car seat (after being stuck in it for two hours) without visual confirmation that your stop does indeed have a changing station in the bathroom! After being on the road for about 7 1/2 hours we checked into the Marriott Residence Inn, Tucson. The room was PERFECT. We got a one bedroom suite (at military rate) where we could close the door to the bedroom. This is a much desired feature for us because Kayla goes to bed usually between 7:30 and 8pm and of course we don't. They also offer complimentary full breakfast and dinner. Score! Kayla had a lot of fun helping daddy unload the car.

Honestly, Kayla has done amazingly well. She has kept herself busy with the ridiculous amount of toys we packed as well as the portable DVD player with all her Baby Einsteins.

Day two ended in El Paso, Texas at the Homewood Suites. Hilton's version of a Residence Inn. And of course at military rate. (To our militry friends with young kids, these are like the best places ever to stay on a road trip!) Our break point was in Demming, NM. We stopped at a Subway for lunch and asked the nice girl behind the counter where the nearest park was. It just happened to be down the street so we all streached our legs for a bit.

Our goal is to keep our daily milage at around 400. That seems to put us at our nightly pit-stops around 5pm. This has definitely been a learning experience for Garrett and I. This is our first MAJOR road trip with a youngin and we're really trying to be flexible and not push each day to the limit. So far so good, I think Kayla has truly appreciated the relaxed evening to settle down and get aquainted with her new surrounding. She really is an awesome traveler! She loves meeting new people and has had NO sleeping problems. Hopefully every day will go as smooth as these past two! On to San Angelo, TX.
