Let's just skip over the excuses about not keeping up here and dive straight into the catching up ... October was a fairly busy month for us. We had our last camping trip before it got cold {I actually did blog on time about there HERE}. And of course there were the usual Fall time festivities and even a little 'mom trip' just for me during the month. Gavin and I tried to spend as much time as possible outside soaking up the sweet fall air before winter came in full force.
We also made regular trips to the pet store .... because ... well, why not?
My 'mom trip' was to Louisville, Kentucky.
Myself and three other lovely ladies from my church attended the MOPS momcon conference. We are all members of our MOPS leadership team and it was truly an awesome experience to be there. CAN NOT wait for this years conference!
While in town I also had the opportunity to meet up with some old Army friends from a couple duty stations ago. I was so great to reconnect and see their beautiful little family grow!
Gavin and I went on his preschool's field trip to the pumpkin patch.
A pit full of dried corn does not make for a soft landing!
The next weekend we took a family field trip to a different pumpkin patch. The huge jumping pillow is always a hit and this was my favorite photo from the day of these two crazy kids!

After looking at their pumpkins we realized they were a complete rip-off! The place was fun and all .... but just so over the top. Loud music filled every corner, people were practically shoulder to shoulder, and we waited at least 20 minutes for the hay ride. By the time we saw their $40 pumpkins we were just over it. So we hustled to the car and drove to small family run farm just minutes from our house. It was .... just ... authentic, peaceful, perfect.
Beautiful pumpkin for a fraction of the cost ... money that went straight to the farmer. Hay to climb on, a modest corn maze, and the token goats and such. I don't think we'll go anywhere else for pumpkins as long as we live here. {We also went back here for our Christmas tree and it was the best one we've ever had!}
And then, of course, it was carving time! This was the first year the kiddos did most of their own work and we were pretty impressed!
It wouldn't be Halloween without a costume parade!
He seriously was hamming it up this year; getting into character.
They both loved their costumes this year! And you know I did!
This is the first time we've lived in a neighborhood where, on Halloween night, everyone sits on their porch or driveway with a bonfire .... and then when the kiddos go to bed the bonfire groups merge at the home closest to those with littles {and within range of monitors 😉}. So fun. I'm so grateful we've landed on a street .. in a community .. that is so kind and welcoming and inclusive.
