Fall Camping

Last month we went out on our 2nd ever family camping trip.  So of course we're feeling quite like experts now!  Most campgrounds around here close at the end of October due to weather and don't open again until April.  The Summer months are predictably hot and humid, so I'll have no part in sleeping in a tent then, and that leaves our 'camping season' to be incredibly short.  bummer.  We were watching the weather like hawks and at the last minute decided to go for it.  It was going to be a bit chilly, but nothing an extra layer of clothes and blankets at night couldn't handle.  The kiddos were very excited to learn we were going back to the same campground {and even same campsite} as the 1st time.  Only this time it was beautiful beginnings of Fall!
Upon arrival, we immediately reviewed the ground rules:
1. Carrs keep a clean camp {and especially NO shoes in the tent}
2.  No wondering off without asking mom or dad first
3.  Don't fall in the creek
4.  Be adventurous, explore, and HAVE FUN!
The last trip here we spent most of our free time hiking.  For a change of scenery, this time, we explored the lake....
and fished!
It was Gavin's first time!

The one and only fish that was caught!
And released.

The beauty of this place was just to much!

We tried another spot.  But the fish were just not biting.
So we called it a day.
And eventually curled up in bed for a quick story.
We had a great weekend!  The kiddos, again, proved themselves to be great little campers and we all can't wait to do it again in the Spring.  Perhaps we will even check out a new location next time! lol.
