MUST.CATCH.UP
Well. The kiddos and I have been home from San Diego for several days now and it is time to get this blog up to date! Not only with our activities from The Golden State but also more photos/activities from September. I sense that life is about to get crazy busy in the coming months with school, holidays, family vacation, and preparing for another cross-country move at the end of the year! So let the blogging begin!
The week that we were in San Diego was over Kayla's Fall break from school. Garrett had only a 4-day weekend for Columbus Day so we drove separately We weren't actually originally planning on spending this break in SD but with the family circumstances as they were....we felt blessed that it all worked out for us to be there.
Last time we were out my dad and I took the kiddos to Balboa Park and took a little ride on the miniature railroad. The kids loved it and my dad reminded me about the actual train out in the hills of Campo that you can ride. I had completely forgotten about that! Campo is a rural community about an hours drive from where we {live} in SD. The train is part of the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association that has preserved a section of the historic railway that was from San Diego to/through Arizona.
Someone was pretty excited!
We boarded the open air passenger car for an hour long train ride, round trip.

The ride was SO much fun! We all really enjoyed it. The weather was beautiful and sitting in that car with the wind blowing...taking in all the lovely scenery was just so peaceful and relaxing.
At the end of the ride the train drops you off at the Museum Grounds and Display Building. That was an unexpected treat. They have 80+ various train cars, some almost 100 years old, and some that you can walk through.
A fun, fun day! It gave us the opportunity to revisit areas of San Diego County that we haven't been to in years. Definitely something we will do again on future visits home!
