Well, this Thanksgiving was a new experience for us. It was actually the second Thanksgiving apart from Garrett, but the first one was when Kayla was 4 months old, her and I were living in San Diego surrounded by family while Garrett was away at Officer Candidate School. This year it was just me, Kayla, and Gavin ..... missing our 4th family member :(
Tuesday, the week of Thanksgiving, Kayla had her annual feast at her preschool. Half the kiddos dress up like Native Americans {as Kayla did last year} and the other half are the Pilgrims.
They all have SO much fun at this feast. The week before Thanksgiving they learn a lot about the holiday and dressing up and eating with friends really helps it all click for them :)
On the big day we had had plans to meet up with our good friends the Sankers {whose daddy was also deployed} for a feast of our own. Unfortunately they were a little sick so we postponed our dinner for that Sunday after Thanksgiving. Instead the kiddos and I hung out, relaxed, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Macy's Parade!
Finally the big day arrived, everyone was healthy, and we were all ready to stuff ourselves silly with turkey, all the fixings, and pumpkin pie! And oh my goodness, the kids were all just WILD about seeing each other! They always have such a good time together!
{They were just about to play 'dress up' when they were distracted with the neighbor turning on his Christmas lights....hence one shirtless kiddo ;) }
I could just eat these two up! They are SOOOOO sweet together.
Thanks again Sankers for having us over, we had a GREAT time and will always remember the Thanksgiving we spent with y'all!!
