Our one and only big family outing while in Las Vegas was to Hoover Dam. It was a first for me and the kiddos. We got there first thing in the morning to beat the heat. The tour was pretty short and just right for little ones.
Back up top ... the sights were breathtaking! Construction was from 1931-1935. The ingenuity involved ... imagining the work that went into this nearly 100 years ago. It was just overwhelming!
On our way back ... it wasn't even noon yet and Gavin was passed out. Still attempting to operate on that 5:45am wake up!
For lunch I pretty much insisted we eat here!
A little taste of San Diego, where the first store opened up. Hello fish tacos and shrimp burritos! yum. I have literally tried fish tacos all over this country and nothing compares to the original.
On our last full day, Papa Derwin and Grandma Phyllis, surprised Kayla with an ice cream cake and early birthday celebration!
We also squeezed in some time for a little Black Jack training so the boys could put their skills to the test at the local casino :)
The next morning we hit the road in a rental car long before the desert sun warmed the sky. We were all pretty bummed to leave Papa and Grandma, it was a great week. It is so SOOO hard living far from family! I truly cherish every minute I am blessed to spend with them!
But our adventure was not over!
Monterey, CA or bust!
