Fun Run and BLOSSOMS!!!

SPRING is finally here!  The cherry trees said so.  How much do I love DC in the springtime?  Enough to get out of bed before the sun and let Kayla take the morning off from school!  OK, normally that would not be a good enough reason to let Kayla skip school; BUT today they were holding an event called 'doughnuts with dad'.  All the little kiddos were bringing their daddies to school for some morning fun and ours definitely could NOT go because he had a 'fun run' planned in DC with his soldiers.  He could not stand the thought of her sitting there all sad 'cause her daddy wasn't eating doughnuts with her.  So we agreed this would be a fun early morning outing for the entire family!  Garrett can not run at the moment due to an injury so it was great to keep him company while his guys were on the run.

We made it to the Lincoln Memorial by about 7:15ish just as the sun was warming up the sky.

Our first stop on the way to the cherry trees was the Korean Memorial.

And then we high-tailed it to the Tidal Basin.  Garrett and Kayla were not able to see the trees in bloom last year so this was definitely a treat!

They are never a disappointment!

After the run our Company met up on Lincoln's steps for a quick chat and photo opt.

And for the record.  I am SOOOOOO glad all that scaffolding is finally off the Washington Monument :)
