July 4th Holiday Weekend

4th of July.  What a great Holiday, right?!  A day to celebrate this great Nation and get away with wearing super cheesy matching Red White & Blue shirts!  The 4th this year for us was pretty low key.  We just stayed home and had a little BBQ for 4.

And of course, July 4th couldn't be complete without waterworks and swimsuits!

Yep, that was about it for us.  Grilling, water slides, and working around the house.  We're thinking next year of maybe braving the crowds and spending the day/evening in DC for parades and fireworks.  How awesome would that be?!

We had a little 'first' this weekend.  I prepared clams for the first time....and the kiddos picked/ate them out of the shell for the first time.  They were a huge hit!

Over the weekend we also had a treasure hunt!  Lately the kiddos have been really into maps, and compasses ....... and buried treasure!  So Garrett, being the super awesome and creative daddy that he is, put together a hunt for them.
~please excuse the messy house in the backgrounds .... it's been hot and we've been playing in the house most days .... and I'm not really into making then clean up every 10 minutes ;) ~

they had to put the pieces of the map together ...... X marks the spot!

 Time to start digging!!

The 'treasure' was a free trip to the corner FroYo place!!

Garrett and I were pretty happy they figured it all out too ;)!!

And to finish up the weekend, Sunday was our monthly Family Formal Dinner!

All in all, a great holiday weekend!
