On Friday the kiddos and I were up with the sun {5:15 AZ time}, kissed Daddy and Smokey good-bye and jumped in the car, San Diego bound!
For people driving sans kiddos it takes about 7 hours. For one parent, a 4yr old, and recently potty trained 2yr old, it takes close to 9 hours!! Stopping for breakfast, lunch, and twenty million potty breaks adds up! All the stops were worth it though because Gavin remained accident free the entire day :) . I'm so proud of him, he's really doing great with that. Since being in SD we've had some big outings visiting family and a day at Sea World and he has stayed dry! Such a big boy now!
By nine hours, this was a sight for sore eyes!
On Sunday we spent the morning/early afternoon at Sea World with my dad and step-mom. Gavin was a little nervous to go up and give the polar bear a hug....he didn't freak out like some kiddos do but he definitely did not want to go up to him! I hope this isn't foreshadowing his behavior when we eventually get to the big D-land!
Usually when we go to Sea World we don't see the shows....it's not that we have anything against them, it's just that we're to busy walking around looking at all the sea life and end up at opposite ends of the park from where a show is starting. So this time we decided to plan ahead and make time for the Shamu show! Before we took our seats we hung out at the Orca tank...
Waiting for the show. It was a beautiful day in the 70s, but sitting under the sun for 30+ minutes and it started to get a little warm. Sitting there with their snacks/water and cool shades kept them pretty happy though!
The show was a lot of fun. Not quite as exciting since they stopped having the trainers swim with Shamu, but none the less, the kiddos loved it.
The best part, as always, was the splashing of the crowds!

Next up, feeding the bat rays. Always a favorite!!
The kiddos loved this! I think if we weren't holding on to them they would have jumped right in!
And then, of course, we had to spend some time in the Bay of Play area :)
It was a great day! I think since Kayla has matured a bit since our last visit and I was mentally prepared for the slew of gift shops and rides vs. sea life it made for a much smoother day than before.
