And we're off.........to Washington DC to cheer Garrett on during the Marine Corps Marathon, Sunday morning! If you missed the letter Garrett wrote about it, you can read it here. So my mom flew in Wednesday evening for the occasion. We packed up the car yesterday and pushed off this morning. We made pretty good time ~ about 6hrs with a decent pit stop for lunch where we could all stretch our legs a bit. The kids did GREAT in the car......Grammy Karen was pretty busy keeping them entertained. (She flying out of DC, so we will definitely miss her on the drive home)
A few highlights from the road:
*Kayla looking out the window and saying 'ooooohhhhhh look at the yellow trees!' ~ the fall colors are truly beautiful.
*Glancing back to see Kayla, Grammy, and Gavin asleep.......Grammy passed out with her head on Gavin's lap.
*Nearly being ran off the road by a young punk thinking he was a cool speed racer.
and my personal favorite
*Kayla looking up at me and asked 'Hey, what's wrong with your face?' and I said 'nothing, it's just my face!'
This is going to be a crazy, fun, busy, short weekend!
